Ladakh always wanted UT status never demanded 6th Shedule

Ladakh always wanted a UT Union Territory
I participated in these marches since 1997 and supported Union Territory status led by Shri Thupstan Tsewang

Never saw Sonam Wangchuk  in these marches.

He was running a school in Phyang and doing innovative housing  for few years he was missing from Ladakh

He came to limelight as a seasoned politician (son of politician) after formation of UT in Ladakh in 31st October 2019 when he floated his OWN party and lost all seats in the election

Subsequently,  demanding Statehood and the inclusion of Ladakh under Schedule 6, which is not feasible due to Ladakh’s strategic borders with China and Pakistan.

Moreover, Schedule 6 prohibits Indian citizens from buying land in such regions, a restriction that aligns disturbingly with China’s policy of territorial control — making it completely unacceptable for Ladakh.

In fact Shedule 6 should be abolished from the NE and a more amicable system like that in Himachal Pradesh should be adopted.
