* Development of Geothermal Energy in Leh Ladakh * On 5th August 2022 a new chapter was written in history of Ladakh when drilling commenced in Puga to drill 1st geothermal well. The whole country was full of hope that 1st geothermal kWe energy would be produced. Unfortunately it failed because of uncontrolled flow of high pressure steam jet much before target depth (1km) of the well. This shows how LITTLE the team knew about the Puga Geothermal field. And how ONGC miscalculated the entire operation. Investment in geology and Reservoir modelling Geothermal energy project in Leh - Ladakh area needs to focus on systematic geological surface and subsurface mapping, coring to understand subsurface P&T conditions, prepare reservoir model and potential of the field, calculate the capacity of drilling rig to be deployed to achieve desirable depths and results.
